In the Western region of Uganda, near Lake Mburo National Park, farm animals and wild animals live in close proximity. This coexistence creates a risk for diseases to transfer from wildlife to livestock, potentially affecting humans as well through spillover. During our research on One Health in this region, we encountered an elderly herdsman with his cattle. The cattle are of the Ankole breed, which is also the name of the sub-region. The sub-region is home mainly to the Ankole ethnic group. The people of Ankole are called Banyankole. I captured some memorable moments with this man, and a year later, he received prints of these photographs.
